My sister-in-law presented me with a reading challenge at the end of last year. We both are avid readers and I thought this would be a very fun and unique way to choose what books to read. I usually stick to the same few genres, so I thought this might be a good way to branch out.

- a book written y someone under 30
- a book with nonhuman characters
- a funny book
- a book by a female author
- a mystery or thriller
- a book with a one-word title
- a book of short stories
- a book set in a different country
- a nonfiction book
- a popular author's first book
- a book from an author you love that you haven't yet read
- a book a friend recommended
- a Pulitzer Prize-winning book
- a book based on a true story
- a book at the bottom of your to-read list
- a book your mom loves
- a book that scares you
- a book more than 100 years old
- a book based entirely on its cover
- a book you were supposed to read in school but didn't
- a memoir
- a book you can finish in one day
- a book with antonyms in the title
- a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
- a book that came out the year you were born
- a book with bad reviews
- a trilogy
- a book from your childhood
- a book with a love triangle
- a book set in the future
- a book set in high school
- a book with a color in the title

Some of these are going to be a real challenge! I am going to have to do some serious research to find applicable books for some of these categories, but I am really excited about it!

I'm pretty excited for this. I thought it would be difficult, but most books fit into some categoriy. Plus this will help both of us branch out and read new stuff!!!
I love this idea, and am challenging myself to do it... if I ever really get into reading any time soon.
Are you counting a book as part of more than one category? Like could one book stand for a female author AND from the year you were born? Or are you doing 50 different books?
Stacey, looking through the list again and like you, I realized that it shouldn't be as hard as I originally thought to fit books into these categories. Some will be challenging, though - but I am definitely looking forward to the challenge!
Camille - 50 different books! (Which is really 52 because one of the categories is a trilogy). And you should totally do this challenge. It will be fun!
Should I join? ;)
Yes, Lisa, you should. And you did. Muahahahaha!
