After narrowly escaping Rome with her mortality, vampire hunter Lady Victoria Gardella Grantworth de Lacey returns to London—where not even sunrise can stop a vampire’s carnage. Not only is Victoria unable to detect the vampire with her heightened senses, but she’s being framed as the prime suspect behind the killings. Meanwhile, the legacy of a vampire’s touch has left his blood boiling in her veins and forces her to fight evil on two fronts—against the new breed of undead threatening London and the darkness within herself….
Victoria is back in London fighting the undead in this fourth installment of The Gardella Vampire Chronicles. By her side is fellow Venator Sebastian Vioget, one of the two men who play an active force in Victoria's life. The other is Maximilian Pesaro, a former Venator who gave up his powers to release himself from the thrall of Lilith, Queen of the vampires. In this book the Venators have a new enemy - daylight vampires. They prove to be lethal enemies that the Venators cannot detect. Victoria must also fight again the pull of the vampire blood she was infused with during her encounter with Beauregard.
It was a fun, quick read. I just recently started reading this series so the first three books were fresh in my memory. In this book Victoria chooses between Sebastian and Max - while I am pleased with her decision, I am also devastated for the one she does not choose. I loved all the action and the romance and can't wait until next years for the next and final book of the series!
